First Baptist Church has a rich history of being involved in many community activities in Transylvania County.
As a member of the Transylvania Baptist Association, we partner with other community churches to hold joint services for Thanksgiving and other holidays. We also host the annual "Hymns for Hope" service of encouragement for those touched by cancer, sponsored by the local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
We offer our parking lots to be used for activities in downtown Brevard such as the White Squirrel Festival on Memorial Day weekend, Fourth of July festivities, HalloweenFest in October, and Twilight Tour in early December.
Center for Women
The Transylvania Center for Women is located on the property of First Baptist Church, Brevard. The "old stone" building adjacent to our church offices and Education Building on Jordan Street was made available for this ministry's use in 2002. Many women who face unplanned pregnancies visit this center every year for care and ministry.
Habitat for Humanity
The offices of Habitat for Humanity are located on the third floor of our Education Building. This organization provides housing for people in our county who could not otherwise afford home ownership.
Brevard Music Center Ministry
First Baptist Church has provided a ministry to Brevard Music Center for many years from June to August. This ministry has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years, with more than 80 students participating in an on-campus Bible study supported by First Baptist last year. We also invite students to participate in our Sunday morning worship services. These students from all over the world are a blessing to our church.
We are thankful to be a small part of sending "missionaries" into the arts community all over the world.
Sharing House and Benevolence
First Baptist Church has been a key supporter of Sharing House, which ministers to the needy in our community. Our members are also involved in personally helping those who have nowhere to turn through our benevolence ministry.
Missionary Residence House
First Baptist Church provides a missionary residence home for the family of international missionaries who are on furlough in the United States. This residence is provided rent free, and our church makes an effort to minister to every family while they are residing in the missionary residence home.
